Before Nightfall, the Lans
Eastern Wonderland was a main part of Asterland with ups and downs of mountains surrounded. While the Lans, a remote village of Eastern Wonderland, was a small mountainous region located at the very east of it with hills and rivers round about.
The parchment spread in Vincent’s hands was the only reason that he came to the Lans. The client of this particular commission, Haku, was a chief member of The Rangers, who took duty to protect residents of Eastern Wonderland and watched closely for any live signs of Dust. The commission mentioned that dust power showed its appearance in the Lans. Vincent rolled up the parchment and kept heading towards the Lans, which was as close as eyes could reach.
It was late afternoon, but the sun was still shining through the fluttering leaves, which turned into golden green upon the tree. Vincent walked by a wooden house; a at the gate, says, “Pub. ---Absinthe served. ---All day open.” However, from outside of the pub Vincent could hardly tell whether it was open or not. In a worried manner, he knocked, expecting to get some rest here.
Not for a while, Vincent heard paces of foot steps walking towards the gate, slowly and calmly, but getting closer and closer. Through the gate there now appeared a rapture-red eyes twinkling horned woman with copper-colored hairs plunging over her soft shoulders. In her arms lied a puppy fox with eyes roundly staring at Vincent. “Hallow!Hallow! And who may you be, my dear customer. Come inside.” Yue said with great excitement. It had been a whole day since the last time she saw a human face.
“Vincent, from Star Harbor,” Answered Vincent, “May I have a bottle of Absinthe, please?” Vincent picked a seat next to the window. He was likely to enjoy the last glimpse of the bright sun and also expected some drops of Absinthe, which was a highly alcoholic beverage made from herbs such as green anise and sweet fennel. Though tasting a little bitter, its unique flavor still made it a widely popular drink in Asterland, and rumor had it that the Lans made the best.
